Michael Jordan Still Draws Fans, Even At The Federal Courthouse
(CBS) As the legal battle continues inside Chicago's federal courthouse, Michael Jordan's faithful fans have been showing up every day for a glimpse of the superstar.
CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker has been monitoring the case.
Jordan fans are clearly happy His Airness has returned to the city. He spends most of the day in court, attending the trial that will determine how much Dominick's owes him for using his name and Bulls jersey number in a 2009 ad without his permission.
At the end of most days, the basketball legend walks out to cameras, cell phones and cheers.
On Friday morning, Kevin Louis showed up hoping to get Jordan to sign a picture he painted of Scottie Pippen and No. 23 in the NBA Finals.
"Jordan played sick that day -- he still scored 40-something points," Louis marvels.
Unfortunately, Jordan didn't stop.
Some fans actually attended the trial to see the icon, even those you'd least expect. Family members of the lead attorney for Dominick's were seen entering the court building.
Stephanie Carson had a good seat in the courtroom.
"I felt like I was around royalty," she says. "It was an opportunity of a lifetime."
Jordan is expected to take the witness stand on Monday.
