Matt Forte, Eddie Royal Among Bears Sitting Out Practice

(CBS) Bears running back Matt Forte and receiver Eddie Royal each sat out of Thursday's practice with knee injuries, and their status for Monday night's road game against the Chargers remains uncertain.

Center Hroniss Grasu (neck) and linebacker Pernell McPhee (knee) joined Forte and Royal as Bears who were sidelined for practice.

Receiver Cam Meredith (ankle), offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod (shoulder), linebacker Shea McClellin (knee) and linebacker LaRoy Reynolds (knee) were all limited participants in practice. Defensive back Bryce Callahan was also a limited participant, without contact, as he continues to go through the concussion protocol. He hasn't been cleared yet.

Coach John Fox expressed optimism at McClellin's progress after the linebacker has missed the past two games.

"He's come along good," Fox said. "He's worked very hard in rehab."

While the Bears have given no official word, Forte is expected to miss Monday's game, according to reports. He injured his knee last Sunday in a loss against the Vikings.
