Martellus Bennett On Jay Cutler Criticism: 'They Threw Stones At Jesus'

By Chris Emma--

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears tight end Martellus Bennett understands the criticism that comes for NFL players. He's been a recipient of plenty.

The Bears were all smiles after their 22-20 win over the Raiders, in which Jay Cutler led a drive with 2:05 remaining that set up Robbie Gould for the game-winning field goal. After the game, Bennett was asked if Cutler receives enough credit to match the criticism.

"I give him enough credit," Bennett said. "That's up to you all. They threw stones at Jesus, and Jesus was an excellent guy who did a lot of awesome stuff, and they still threw rocks at him. How do you think they do us? I'm not perfect. Jesus was, and he got stoned. They throw rocks at us, too."

Bennett also compared Cutler to Shane Falco, Keanu Reeves' quarterbacking character from "The Replacements."

In Chicago's win, Bennett caught 11 passes from Cutler, including a touchdown. The Bears moved to 1-3 on the season.
