Mark Your Calendars, Cubs Fans: World Series Starts Oct. 25

(CBS) Circle this date, Cubs fans: The World Series starts Oct. 25.

MLB released its postseason schedule late Tuesday morning. The American League wild-card game is set for Oct. 4, while the National League wild-card game will take place Oct. 5. The two AL Division Series start Oct. 6, while the two NL Division Series begin Oct. 7.

Game 1 of the ALCS is set for Oct. 14, while Game 1 of the NLCS comes Oct. 15.

The first two games of the World Series will be played Oct. 25 and 26 in the AL city. The next three games -- which the Cubs could potentially host if they advance far enough -- are set for Oct. 28-30 in the NL city.

An off day follows that, with Game 6 on Nov. 1 if necessary and Game 7 on Nov. 2 if necessary.

The Cubs are currently an MLB-best 79-45 with a 12.5-game lead in the NL Central.
