Man Wounded In Belmont Cragin Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 18-year-old man was shot in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side Tuesday evening.

About 6:20 p.m., the man was sitting in the rear passenger seat of a vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign in the 2200 block of North Austin Avenue, police said.

Someone in group of males standing on the corner nearby fired shots, striking the man in the right calf, police said.

The man's friends drove him to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, where he was treated and later released, police said. The man is not believed to have been the intended target of the shooting.
