Man, Woman Injured In Lakeview Moped Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were injured when a car slammed into a moped Tuesday night in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side.

A 56-year-old man was driving the scooter with a female passenger about 8:45 p.m. north on Broadway when a southbound vehicle made a left turn at Addison and struck the moped, according to Chicago Police.

Police said the moped did not have headlights.

The man and the female passenger, whose age was not known, were both taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Fire officials said the female was in serious condition.

As of early Wednesday, no citations or charges have been filed in connection with the crash as the police Major Accidents Investigation Unit investigates.
