Man Wanted For Violent Kidnapping Of Lansing Woman

(STMW) -- The FBI is searching for a man who violently assaulted and kidnapped a woman from her home in south suburban Lansing early Friday.

About midnight, the man abducted the 53-year-old woman and used her car to take her to Munster, Indiana, where surveillance cameras captured footage of him at an ATM, according to the FBI.

He continued traveling about 25 miles to Burns Harbor in northwest Indiana, where he stopped briefly and "the victim was recovered by law enforcement," authorities said.

The car later was found abandoned more than 100 miles away in Holland, Michigan.

He is described as a heavyset black man last seen wearing a white t-shirt, light gray knit gloves, a wristwatch with a black band and a nylon stocking over his head. The victim's car is a small blue Chevrolet four-door.

Anyone with information should call the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or Lansing police at (708) 895-7150.
