Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Austin

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An autopsy found that a man was struck and killed by a bus Friday evening in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

Saturday's autopsy indicated that 43-year-old Martin Davis had been struck by a bus, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Police said Davis was hit by a vehicle about 5 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Division Street, but could not confirm the vehicle was a bus. There were no reports of fatalities involving CTA buses Friday, CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said Saturday.

Davis, of the 1100 block of North Lockwood Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:20 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to West Suburban Medical Center. Neither the person's gender nor condition were not immediately known Saturday afternoon, police said.

No charges or citations had been filed as of early Saturday, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
