Man Struck By Vehicle, Killed In Logan Square

CHICAGO (STMW) --A man was struck by a vehicle and killed Friday night one block from his home in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The pedestrian, 61-year-old Jose Medina, was struck by the vehicle about 6:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Rockwell Street, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy Saturday revealed Medina died from multiple injuries as a result of the accident, the medical examiner's office said.

Medina, of the 2100 block of North Rockwell, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 7 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The 51-year-old man driving the vehicle stayed at the scene of the crash, where he was issued two citations, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, citing preliminary information.

The police Major Accident Investigations Unit is investigating.
