Man Charged With DUI After Killing Pedestrian In Des Plaines

DES PLAINES, Ill. (STMW) -- Police say a northwest suburban man was driving under the influence of alcohol when he fatally struck a Chicago man Wednesday night in Des Plaines.

Robert Grossman, 44, is charged with one count of aggravated DUI resulting in death, according to a statement from Des Plaines police.

Grossman was driving west on Touhy Avenue near Frontage Road when he struck 42-year-old Kenneth Davis about 8:20 p.m., police said.

Davis, of the 2900 block of West Rosemont Avenue in Chicago, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he was pronounced dead at 9:04 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Grossman was also hospitalized after the crash, police said. Two passengers in his vehicle were not injured.

Grossman, of the 26200 block of West Boesch Place in Ingleside, is scheduled to appear in bond court in Skokie on Friday.
