Man Shot, Wounded By Police In Gary

GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- A man was shot and wounded by police in Gary late Sunday afternoon.

Just after 5 p.m., Gary police officers were called to the 2400 block of Roosevelt Street for reports of a man with a gun.

It appears police found the man in his car. When they did, he refused to follow orders and officers fired shots, police said.

The man was struck and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. No officers were injured, police said.

The Lake County, Indiana Sheriff's Department will investigate.
