Man Shot Multiple Times, Killed In Austin Neighborhood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 32-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened at 4:26 p.m. in the 200 block of North Pine Avenue, police News Affairs Veejay Zala said.

The man was sitting in a vehicle when someone in another vehicle pulled along the passenger side and opened fire, hitting the man multiple times on his right side, Zala said.

The man attempted to drive away, but soon crashed, Zala added.

The man has been identified as Charles Lee, of the 1700 block of North Lotus Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition and was pronounced dead at 5:04 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner's office. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
