Man Shot In Grand Crossing

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 49-year-old man was shot early Monday in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.

He was standing outside in the 8000 block of South Maryland Avenue about 1 a.m. when someone approached him and an altercation ensued, according to police. The man was shot in the side during the encounter.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said
