Man Shot During Robbery Attempt In East Garfield Park

A man was shot and seriously injured during an attempted robbery Monday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man, 42, was in the 3400 block of West Warren Boulevard about 11:15 p.m. when he was approached by another male, who pulled out a handgun and announced a robbery, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.

The man was shot in the abdomen as he tried to run away and was driven by a family member to Mount Sinai Hospital, Gaines said. He was listed in serious condition.
