Man Shot During Elgin Home Invasion

(STMW) -- A man was shot with a shotgun during a home invasion early Saturday in northwest suburban Elgin.

The man, 43, was inside a house in the 700 block of Elma Avenue about 1 a.m. when a male entered the home and confronted him with a shotgun before shooting him, according to a statement from Elgin police.

The homeowner drove the victim to the lobby of the Elgin Police Department, police said. He had been shot in the hands, face and chest and was transported to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin with non-life threatening injuries.

The Elgin police Major Investigations Division is investigating the incident, which does not appear to be random, police said.
