Man Shot, Critically Wounded In South Shore

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot and critically wounded in South Shore on Wednesday.

Police said around 5:25 p.m., the 26-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 7500 block of South Kingston Avenue when someone came up and fired shots.

The victim was struck once in the chest and once in the leg and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

As of Wednesday night, no one was in custody. Area South detectives were investigating.
