Man Shot And Killed In West Pullman

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot to death early Sunday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 29-year-old was walking with a friend in the 400 block of West 117th Street a few minutes after midnight when shots were fired, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

Maurice Coleman, who lived in the 11000 block of South Lowe Avenue, was shot in the head and chest and taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

His friend was uninjured, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
