Man Shot And Killed In West Pullman

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot in the head and killed early Tuesday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The man, 20, was shot shortly after 2 a.m. near 116th Street and Stewart Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.

Witnesses told police they heard five or six shots and saw two males running away from the scene of the shooting, Gaines said.

The man was unresponsive at the scene and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to the head, Gaines said.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. His identity was being withheld Tuesday morning pending notification of his family.
