Man Shot And Killed In Gary

GARY, Ind. (STMW) -- A man died early Tuesday after he was shot in northwest Indiana.

Officers were responding to a shooting in the 900 block of North County Line Road in Gary about 1:30 a.m. when they came upon someone driving a gunshot victim to the emergency room, according to a release from Gary police.

The officers accompanied the vehicle to Methodist Northlake Hospital in Gary, where 20-year-old James Anderson, of the 5900 block of Jefferson Street in Gary, was pronounced dead at 2:03 a.m., according to police and the Lake County, Ind., Coroner's office.

No one is in custody, and police said the motive for the shooting is not yet known. Anyone with information should contact Detective Alex Jones at (219) 881-7477.
