Man Shot And Killed In East Garfield Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was fatally shot early Monday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

The 23-year-old was shot in the shoulder and left thigh about 2:40 a.m. in the 500 block of South Central Park Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said. Witnesses said they saw the man exchange fire with another person, Zala said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
