Man Shot And Killed Along Englewood Safe Passage Route

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Thursday after being found with multiple gunshot wounds along a Chicago Public Schools Safe Passage route in Englewood.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 2:15 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Princeton Avenue found a 20-year-old man inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

That block lies on a Safe Passage route for Jesse Sherwood Elementary School, 245 W. 57th St., according to the Chicago Public Schools website.

The man was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the medical examiner's office said.
