Man Seriously Wounded In Austin Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot and seriously wounded Wednesday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 29-year-old told police he was in his vehicle, talking to a friend in the 900 block of North Leclaire Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain about 11:50 p.m., police News Affairs Ronald Gaines said.

He suffered one gunshot wound to the chest and four to the arm, Gaines said.

The man drove himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, but was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was listed in serious condition, Gaines said.
