Man Seriously Wounded In Austin Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot and seriously wounded in the West Side Austin neighborhood early Saturday.

About 5:05 a.m., the 33-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of West Maypole Avenue when he was approached by an unknown male who started shooting at him, striking him once in the face, police said.

The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, police said.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
