Man Robs Fourth Bank In Six Weeks On Near North Side

(STMW) -- Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a bank Saturday morning on the Near North Side, who is also thought to be responsible for three other bank robberies throughout the city.

The man made off with an unspecified amount of money at 9:40 a.m. from the Fifth Third Bank at 837 W. North Ave., according to the FBI.

The suspect is described as black man with a slender-to-medium build, standing between 6-feet and 6-foot-4, the FBI said. In this robbery, he wore a black knit hat, sunglasses, a dark gray hooded jacket and dark colored pants.

The man is suspected in three other robberies, which happened:

at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Byline Bank branch at 742 W. Diversey Parkway;

at 8:15 a.m. Jan. 15 at the American Eagle Bank of Chicago branch at 2255 N Western Ave.; and

at 11:15 a.m. Dec. 28 at the U.S. Bank branch at 2131 S. China Pl.

In two of the robberies, the suspect implied he had a gun, but did not show one, according to Chicago Police.
