Man Robs Bank In Elgin

(STMW) -- A man robbed a bank Saturday morning in northwest suburban Elgin.

Officers were called to the Fifth Third Bank branch at 1645 Larkin Avenue at 9:17 a.m., according to a statement from Elgin police.

The suspect entered the bank, threatened that he had a weapon, and demanded an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police and the FBI. He ran away eastbound on foot.

The FBI described the incident as a non-takeover robbery.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man standing about 5-foot-6 and weighing about 150 pounds, authorities said. He wore a black hoodie over a red shirt with white fabric gloves, gray sweatpants, a blue-and-white baseball cap, sunglasses and a mask covering the lower half of his face.
