Man Pulled Out Of Chicago River After Rollover Accident

(CBS) --A man whose car rolled over on the Congress Parkway bridge over the Chicago River ended up in the Chicago River -- and lived.

The rollover accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and immediately drew Chicago Fire Department divers and its helicopter.

Police say the vehicle that rolled was involved in a two-car accident. It's unclear whether the man was ejected from the car directly into the river or if he stumbled on the bridge first. But he was spotted clinging to a buoy. A Chicago Fire Department boat and divers fished him from the frigid water, put him in an ambulance and transported him, in fair to serious condition but fully responsive, to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The car itself did not go into the river.
