Man Pulled From Fox River Had Gunshot Wound: Fire Official

(CBS) – A call for a water rescue in the northwest suburbs has turned into a shooting investigation.

South Elgin Fire Department Capt. Mike Rotheker says rescuers were called for a report of a man in the Fox River around 11:15 a.m. Thursday. When first-responders arrived, they found a man near a low-head dam.

The man was pulled from the water – alive – and appeared to have a gunshot wound, Rotheker says.

The victim was at Provena St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition.

Further details were not available.
