Man Killed, Two Teens Wounded In Near West Side Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and two teens were wounded in a shooting on the Near West Side Tuesday night.

The three were standing on the sidewalk in the 200 block of South Western Avenue about 10 p.m. when a male got out of a dark-colored sedan and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

A 49-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to police.

Alvin Ivy, of the 1300 block of South Kedzie Avenue, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 10:33 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the right calf and a 17-year-old boy was struck in the lower left leg, Alfaro said. Their conditions were stable at Stroger.

The man killed was a documented gang member, police said.
