Man Killed In Wicker Park Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday in Wicker Park.

Police said the man was driving north on Western Avenue in a black SUV, with three female passengers, when he stopped at a red light at Division Street around 2:30 a.m. A dark colored sedan pulled alongside the SUV, and someone inside opened fire, shooting the man in the head.

The SUV rolled forward after the shooting, and crashed into a traffic light pole across the street.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The rear driver's side window of the SUV was shattered, and the driver's side was riddled with bullet holes, but no other injuries were reported.

No one was in custody Monday morning.

A police blue light camera is posted at that intersection, which also has a red light camera system.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
