Man Killed In Tinley Park Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who died in a rollover crash in south suburban Tinley Park Sunday afternoon committed suicide, an autopsy found.

Police and paramedics responded to the single-vehicle accident about 1:20 p.m. in the 17500 block of Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park police Sgt. Patrick St. John said.

The man — identified as Tinley Park resident Joseph Lange — was the only person in the vehicle and had to be extricated, according to St. John and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

He was taken to Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, where he later died, authorities said. Lange lived in the 7600 block of 170th Street, the medical examiner's office said.

An autopsy Monday found Lange died of multiple injuries from the crash and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Lanes were closed for about two hours. Tinley Park police are investigating.
