Man Killed In Second Of Two Apparently Intentional Crashes In Huntley

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in northwest suburban Huntley were investigating two single-car crashes from overnight, including one fatal crash.

Both wrecks appeared to be intentional, and apparently involved the same man.

"That seems to be the most plausible explanation on the information we have at this point," Huntley Deputy Police Chief Mike Klunk said.

Klunk said a man crashed a Saturn into a traffic light at Freeman Road and Factory Shops Boulevard in Huntley, then walked back two miles to a home in unincorporated Gilberts, got into a Honda CR-V, and then crashed into a light pole Freeman Road near Route 47.

That second crash killed the man, later identified as 56-year-old David Flight, of unincorporated Gilberts. Klunk said it's apparent both crashes were intentional.

"We don't see any loss of control, we don't see any skid marks prior to the striking area, and there's really no indication of anything else. The roadway was relatively dry at that particular time," he said.

Klunk said the Flight had both sets of car keys when his body was found at the scene of the second crash.
