Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash On Lower West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A west suburban motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into an SUV Saturday afternoon on the Lower West Side.

About 4:50 p.m., a Pontiac Aztec was making a left turn in the 2700 block of South Ashland Avenue, when a Yamaha motorcycle smashed into the back of the SUV, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:41 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was identified as 25-year-old Egidijus Salcius of the 300 block of Oliver Court in Westmont.

The 25-year-old woman driving the Pontiac was cited for driving without a license or insurance, but police said the motorcyclist was at fault for the crash.
