Man Killed In Monee Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 61-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday in south suburban Monee.

A Ford van crossed the center line on Goodenow Road east of Highland Avenue in Monee about 3:30 a.m. and struck a Toyota that was heading in the opposite direction, according to the Will County sheriff's office.

The driver of the Toyota, 61-year-old Daniel L. Wrona of Manteno, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Will County coroner's office. The preliminary results of an autopsy Wednesday determined he suffered multiple injuries in the crash. His final cause of death will be determined pending police, toxicological and autopsy reports.

The driver of the Ford, a 31-year-old Beecher man, suffered injuries to his face and arms, and was taken to St. James Health in Olympia Fields, where he was treated and released.

He was cited for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to the sheriff's office.
