Man Killed In Chatham Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died after he was shot in the head Wednesday afternoon in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

About 1:15 p.m., Joseph Gaithers, 35, was talking with another person in the 8000 block of South King Drive, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. The other person pulled out a gun and then shot Gaithers in the head.

Gaithers, of the 6300 block of South Calumet, was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5:31 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
