Man Killed, Another Wounded In Austin Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting early Tuesday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

The men, ages 24 and 36, were in a vehicle at 12:06 a.m. traveling in the 1800 block of North Laramie when someone in another vehicle fired shots at them, according to Chicago Police. The victims' vehicle then struck a building.

The younger man was shot in the left side of his buttocks and left hand and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not immediately confirm the death.

The older man suffered a graze wound to the head and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized, according to police.
