Man Killed, Another Injured In Englewood Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were shot - one fatally - Saturday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 3:42 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Emerald Avenue, police said. The two men were standing on the sidewalk when a suspect emerged from an alley and opened fire, police said.

Kenneth Anthony, 31, of the 400 block of West 66th Place, suffered a gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead at 4:44 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was killed less than a mile from his home.

A second man, 21, was shot in the right arm and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "stable" condition.
