Man In Custody After Hit-And-Run That Seriously Injured Pedestrian

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Charges are pending against the driver who struck a woman with his vehicle Saturday evening in the North Side Norwood Park neighborhood.

The 50-year-old woman was walking in the 5800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue about 7 p.m. when the driver struck her and then drove off, police and fire officials said.

The woman was taken in fair-to-serious condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said.

Charges are pending against the 34-year-old man who allegedly was behind the wheel, police said Sunday.

Area North detectives are investigating.
