Man Hit, Killed By Car While Running Across I-94

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man is dead after he ran across Interstate 94 and was hit by a car early Sunday on the Far South Side.

About 3 a.m., a 36-year-old man was heading north on I-94 in a 2007 Ford Taurus when a 22-year-old man ran across the roadway near 120th Street and was hit, Illinois State Police said in a statement.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as Lawill Gordon, of the 900 block of North Kedvale Avenue.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

State police are investigating why the man was running across the expressway.

The far right two lanes on northbound I-94 were closed were closed for more than three hours as crews cleared the scene, police said. All lanes had reopened to traffic by about 6:20 a.m.
