Man Held At Cook County Jail For Domestic Battery Dies In Custody

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 55-year-old Cook County Jail inmate died in custody early Wednesday.

Dennis P. Connors was booked May 6 for aggravated domestic battery and was held on a $100,000 bond, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

He was pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m. at Cermak Health Services, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office, which listed his address at the jail near 26th Street and California.

A death investigation is underway, sheriff's office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
