Man Shot And Killed In Little Village Garage; 'He Did No Harm To Anybody'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 60-year-old man was found shot to death Wednesday morning inside the garage of his home in the Little Village neighborhood.

The wife of Jose Correa found him lying on the floor of his detached garage near 27th and Central Park around 7:30 a.m., police said.

He had been shot in the back, neck, and mouth; and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"It's not possible," said Correa's wife, Catalina, visibly shaken after finding her husband's body. "He did no harm to anybody. He did not need to go the way he did."

The couple married at City Hall 40 years ago, but had a wedding planned for this June.

'They had finally decided to get married in the church," said the couple's daughter, Adriana Correa. "The way my mom always wanted to."

Jose Correa's grandson, Juan Miguel Torres, says the family has dealt with tragedy before.

Juan's father--Jose and Catalina Correa's son--died violently in 2009.

"Just to go to the same hospital where my father passed was really hard for me," Torres said.

A neighbor said he was walking down the street on his way to work when he saw the family crying outside their home.

"Good family, good community members," Jesus Carlin said.

The couple lived here with their daughter and two sons, but none of them heard anything unusual this morning.

Chicago Police say only that their investigation continues.
