Man Found Dead With 'Trauma To The Body' On South Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was found dead with "trauma to the body" on the South Side Monday afternoon.

About 3:45 p.m., 36-year-old Carlos Evans was found lying between two parked vehicles in the 8300 block of South Brandon Avenue, authorities said.

He was initially thought to have been killed in a hit-and-run, police said, but his cause of death has not yet been determined.

Evans, of the 8800 block of South Racine Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 5 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

He appeared to have died from blunt-force trauma, according to the medical examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause and manner of his death.

Police are conducting a death investigation.
