Man Fatally Shot In West Garfield Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot and killed early Sunday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 42-year-old man was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest about 5:10 a.m. in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street, said police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada, citing preliminary information.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatality, but did not release the man's name or any other information early Sunday.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
