Man, 22, Fatally Shot In Skokie

CHICAGO (CBS)--A man was fatally shot in a residential area in north suburban Skokie Monday night, according to police.

Around 8:45 p.m., Skokie police responded to a call of shots fired in the 4700 block of Main Street, and found a 22-year-old man who had been shot.

The victim, Edward James, was taken to Skokie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. James lived on the block were he was shot.

Skokie police closed Main Street between Kilpatrick Avenue and Skokie Boulevard Monday night while authorities investigated at the scene of the shooting.

"The Skokie Police Department believes this was an isolated incident and does not believe a threat exists to the general public," Officer Eric Swaback said in a statement.
