Man Fatally Shot In North Lawndale

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot and killed Friday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

A 27-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Central Park Avenue about 11:55 p.m. when a dark-colored sedan drove past and someone inside fired shots, authorities said.

The man has been identified as Dewey Knox, of the 1400 block of South Troy Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:22 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
