Man Dies In Police Custody In Brighton Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A burglary suspect died in police custody overnight in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

Police said it appeared the man died from a health issue.

Officers responded to a home burglary around 1:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of West Pershing Road, and found a man suspected of being involved in the crime. The man started sweating, and breathing heavily while in custody, so police notified paramedics.

Despite medical attention at the scene, the suspect became unresponsive, and died.

His identity has not yet been released.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
