Man Dies After West Garfield Park Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Tuesday after being shot multiple times in the West Garfield Park neighborhood Sunday evening.

Juwan Williams, 18, of the 4000 block of Arthington Street, was outside with a group of friends about 6:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Polk Street when two other people walked up and one of them opened fire before they both ran away, authorities said.

Williams suffered gunshot wounds to his head, chest and arm, and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, where he died at 3:54 a.m. Tuesday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one else was hurt in the shooting, police said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
