Man Dies After McKinley Park Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Saturday after he was shot multiple times in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the South Side.

Javan Boyd, 28, was driving in the 3700 block of South Princeton Avenue about 4 a.m. when a person approached the vehicle's passenger side and began shooting, hitting Boyd in the back and legs, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Boyd, of the 7400 block of South Chappel Avenue, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead at 5:45 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
