Man dead after being shot in car on Chicago's West Side

A man was shot and killed in a car in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

At 4:24 p.m., the 45-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 4700 block of West Monroe Street, when two people in a truck pulled up alongside him, police said.

The two men fired multiple gunshots toward the victim and struck him multiple times in the head and body, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The shooters fled the scene, and there was no one in custody late Thursday.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
