Man Critically Wounded, Woman Hurt In South Side Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two people were wounded -- one critically -- in a Wednesday afternoon shooting on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 5:20 p.m. in the 9100 block of South Throop Street, police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said, citing preliminary information.

A 32-year-old man shot in the chest and back was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Pacheco said. A 37-year-old woman in "stable" condition was being treated at the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Both are documented gang members, police said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
