Man Critically Wounded In South Shore Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was critically wounded in a shooting Friday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 20-year-old was shot multiple times about 9 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Euclid Avenue, police said, citing preliminary information.

He sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen, back and left leg, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The man has known gang affiliations and the shooting is thought to be gang-related, police said.

While the shooting occurred about a block from South Shore International College Prep High School, it did not occur along a Safe Passage route, and investigators do not believe any students were involved, according to a police source.
